Diastereomeric complexes [Ir(C[caret]N)2(N[caret]O*)] are easily separated by crystallisation or chromatography. Treatment with trifluoroacetic acid and bipyridine allows synthesis of homochiral complexes in which the only chirality is that at the metal.
