A terthiophene-tetrazole was identified that undergoes a 405 nm laser-triggered photoclick reaction with a fumarate dipolarophile with the second-order rate constant exceeding 103 M-1 s-1. The real-time spatiotemporally controlled imaging of microtubules in live mammalian cells using this new class of laser-activatable reagent was demonstrated.
