The zinc catalyzed hydroamination of 2,2-diphenylpent-4-en-1-amine stops at the alkyl intermediate! A bulky [small beta]-diketiminato ligand prevents transfer of NH protons to a carbanion, and the formation of a long-time postulated intermediate of catalytic hydroamination is proved.
