Cyclodextrin modified upconversion nanoparticles (CD-UCNPs) functionalized with a rhodamine B derivative (RBD), have been achieved for FRET-based Fe3+-sensing. The CD-UCNPs nanocarriers can also serve as a platform for the detection of other analytes.
