Porphyrin complexes of iron, manganese and cobalt catalysed reductive dimerization of alkenes with NaBH4 under N2O. The reaction system using FeIIIporphyrin generated a FeIporphyrin intermediate that reduced N2O to regenerate FeIIIporphyrin.
